Cirque has recently signed a partnership deal with the Spanish municipality of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat in Barcelona to bring one big top show (roughly) every two years starting in March 2018 with Totem and will continue until 2030, meaning they will have roughly 7 confirmed GC shows to look forward to.

Wondering what's going on with Toruk, and no cities showing beyond Dayton, which starts on March 22.

I believe Dayton is Toruk's last city in North America before heading to Asia

Toruk will hit Taiwan from July 6th through 18th, but I agree with Mungo, I think Dayton, OH will be it's last stop in the US.

Thanks Mungojerrie2010 and Richasi.  I've decided to make last minute plans to go to Cleveland Saturday to see both performances.  I saw Toruk in Hamilton, Ontario last May and really enjoyed it, and wanted to see it again before it moved out of North America.

Um, so like, why did Toruk totally skip the northwest? Messed up.

Looks like Amaluna in Brazil soon...

From this site - http://www.lonadasartes.org/amaluna-cirque-du-soleil/ - (translated via Google Translate)

"After coming close with the Kooza show in 2016 Cirque returns to Brazil. According to the press, the return is guaranteed in 2017 and artists of the show confirmed exclusively for CANVAS ART that will be in early October in São Paulo and at the end of 2017 and early 2018 in Rio de Janeiro."

Rowelle - Toruk did visit the "Pacific Northwest"!  (Which general includes Oregon, Washington, most of BC, and Idaho.)  Portland the weekend of Dec 7, Vancouver the next weekend Dec 14.

But it didn't visit the Seattle area.  As Toruk is considered an Arena show, it's in the contract.  The contracts promise potential host arenas there will be no Cirque shows within six months either end, so there's no "competition" in the marketplace by Cirque itself.  Since LUZIA is opening in Seattle in March, the blackout period started in September, so Toruk couldn't visit when it swung through the area.

Which is too bad, Seattle-ites would LOVE Toruk.  -Keith J.

Keith: Thanks for that info. That is so interesting. I do live in Seattle and was wondering why Toruk skipped it, so that info explains a lot. I was hoping to possibly see it to see if it would be as bad as I was thinking it would be.

I had mentioned on the first page of this thread that Amaluna would be going to South America sometime in 2018(I was a little far beyond the fact) but does anyone know if after Rome, Amaluna will go to Moscow before heading to Sao Paulo,BR?

Rowell - That "glitch" has caught us unaware before.  We waited and waited for one arena show to announce Seattle on their itinerary and they never did, just hopping over us.  That taught us a lesson.

I recommend to anyone in a city that gets Big Top shows, to not necessarily wait for Arena shows to announce their city before committing to tickets if they are in a nearby city.  The blackout dates in effect may mean it won't come.

For Seattle, I also look to Vancouver, Victoria, Spokane, and Portland, as well as Everett and Tacoma.  You can pick them (up to 6) as favorite cities for notifications in Cirque Club.  -Keith J.

Toruk will be play Bangkok after Taipei. Is this going to be a big Asian tour including Japan and China or will it head to Aus/NZ and resume the Asian tour after?

Likely it'll be big and open as many Chinese markets as possible. Technically it's everything that market loves - high tech, flashy, over the top. I wouldn't be surprised if they restage it a bit with bigger, busier acrobatics first too.

Anyone know what is happening/has happened to The Wiz? Weren't they going to do a live show following the TV ep?

Yep, they were. Last I heard Cirque du Soleil Theatrical couldn't find a venue to host it. I'm not sure whether they've given up on it or not. It's just quietly gone away.

I'm well aware. Its idiotic Cirque kills their shows in such irrelevant places. But, alas, nothing we can do.

It was nice that they brought Saltimbanco "back home" for its last shows.

It mught be extended and plus, the SA market is tiny and low socioeconomic standard made ticket prices cheaper (at least for Kooza)

Just had the pre-sale notification for Varekai from the Cirque Club.  Syracuse is November 15-19 with Allentown being November 9-12.  So glad Varekai is coming to Syracuse and not when I'm on my Orlando trip.
