Not too keen on the name, CRYSTAL is just kind of bland. But, as always, I look forward to seeing the show design. An ice show has lots of potential and I hope they don't waste it. Too bad Penscacola is six hours from me ;)

Agreed. I kind of warmed up to QUARTZ. Crystal is just a bit too generic.

Although I'm not sure what it's final form will be. I was told that this is a concept that's been at Cirque for a long time. It was the impetus for the creation of Wintuk.

I've always thought an ice show for Cirque had a lot of potential. Its surprising how many acrobatics you can do on ice. Story for hte show sounds like every generic cirque show story ever made but hopefully they don't focus on it too much.

i hope this goes in a Black Swan direction and not another Wintuk.

Felt like this should be added here, or rather updated for those of you who are not/no longer part of the HCF facebook group.

Back to the Crystal/Quartz name issue. According to the following article, the name is indeed Quartz. (Just to add to the confusion)

The working name of this show was Quartz, yes. Unless marketing jumped the gun - it's officially Crystal, regardless.

The interview itself is rather strange, but it was interestig to hear about Fabrice's role in Quartz/Crystal

Yeah, what Richasi said.

The interview was done in the spring, possibly before the official name "Crystal" was announced, so interviewee was just using its working title during the interview.

IHQ is training a new banquine team. The last few shows the act has been in was a shaddow of what it once was in Quidam [Amaluna, Sep7imo, arguably Kurios] but this new troupe could be possibly for this show? Or a new troupe for Kurious in Japan of even Corteo... Hmmm.

Im not sure if we are talking about the same troup, but they have been training another Banquine troupe for Kurios at IHQ. What I do know is for crystal is a new swinging trapeze act!

EDIT: I found this clip of them rehearsing to the music: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWEJ7uOlCo-/?tagged=banquine

I did see some artists training for a parallel bars act as well as another adagio act. Don't know what they are for though. They're also training a new female for the rings trio in Totem, which is strange considering they currently have 2 already and only technically need 1...

Tracker, thanks for that link. Are they ending the act with that trick?  It appears so. And if so, ....

I have been avoiding watching the dvd due to spoilers so I don't know how it usually ends, but yeah that seems like a concluding trick based on the music and the wave at the end... Not a very strong finisher, I agree.

Woof. I miss Quidam's banquine act, that thing was a MONSTER compared to the one from Kurios. Anybody have any idea why the banquine acts have become, for lack of a better phrase, less challenging?

Right? Quidam's banquine act was the best! Kurios' one is very embarrassing to watch because of the cringey dancing they do and the costumes are horrendous. Zarkana's banquine act was fine too (with the original song).

Even Quidam's banquine act slightly lost its steam during arena conversion. the final trick used to have the flyer land with her feet on the shoulders of the guy on top of the tower, but to simplify it they made it so she just did a superman flight up and was caught by the hips and balanced on top of the tower in a T shape. I think the reason is Cirque doesn't want to spend the time and effort and money training a quality banquine team. They just want a passable troupe that the ordianry viewers will be impressed with, not the outstanding quality that blows fans like us away. That's the new cirque I guess...

Yeah the superman thing was such a cop out.

Does anyone know how they're going to set up a touring rink? Is it the arena they go to that sets it up for them?

if there's ice skating I'd ~assume~ the floor surface of ice hockey rinks? not sure how this could tour other regions outside north america unless they toured with their own surface that could freeze and sustain ice.

Synthetic ice. Disney on Ice uses them for their touring arena shows. Easier to install and works in all temperatures.
