Kurios DVD

So I was just on Cirque du Soleil's Wikipedia page, I know it's Wikipedia but in the filmography section it say that the Kurios DVD was filmed live in Toronto in 2014 and directed by Mario Janelle.

It's possible they did. We all heard they were planning to film in Toronto and then... nothing. Considering they filmed Amaluna in Toronto and then held it for a year, maybe they're doing the same for KURIOS? Hopefully we'll hear soon. Can't wait to have a copy!

Ugh, that's just a wikipedia "troll" that keeps putting that in without references. I'm sure that they will be filming Kurios, but don't trust what it says on wikipedia.

Is the Amaluna DVD shorter than others?

Only slightly. They cut down on some of the transitions (i.e. setups) and since of the clown acts, from what I've been able to tell. It's pretty much the full show, however.

Oh, I downloaded the version that aired on ARTE in 2012. It's 53 minutes long and missing Uneven Bars, clown acts, balance act, storm duo and water meteors/icarian. But apart from that, I like it.

Oh, the DVD is great! It's about 110 minutes or so. Similar to Varekai.

**SPOILERS**

So i watched the DVD. I don't know why, but i am honest. The DVD is nice, but the show not really.

The show was under my radar from the time it was opening. I like the Steampunk idea, but neever the acts were interessting for me nor the music.

I watched the DVD and my biggest complain is the lack of transition and story. As mentioned, never seen any footage or the show before.

The only things i remember are the nice effect during balancing on chairs and the unique attempt of rola bola.

The ending was really really dissapointing, and i don't get the story at all at this point.

My questions is now: Did the DVD cut a lot of the show? I understand that the animation before the show is cut (but that is the case with all shows, if i call correctly). If not, what should the story or ending mean in the show?

A ton got cut from the DVD. That's why I was surprised by your comment about transitions, since the show itself has some really great ones. Unfortunately, transitions are more likely to be cut than anything else on a Cirque DVD.

I'll repeat what I said HCF (short form): loved the show; hated the DVD.  Plain and simple.  It's unfortunate that so many people will be losing faith in the show by seeing the DVD before the show.  But I assure you: see Kurios live. You'll understand why the DVD sucks after that.

I saw it live shortly after it came out and from what I saw on the DVD, it was mainly some clown acts that were cut.

Is the Invisible Circus included in the DVD? I hope so! I don't care for the Clown Date act where he acts like a whole bunch of different animals and stuff. That was embarrassing to watch.

Yay! Thanks, Matthew! I hope to pick up a copy when I possibly see the show in Portland in September. :)

Cirque clowns in recent times are ultra cringy and unhumourous. I miss the good old days of Varekai, Mystere and Dralion's clowns!

If both of those are in, I wonder what else clown parts ZumanityDelights is talking about that got cut. Cuz aren't those the only two clown acts?

I honestly couldn't say. Both the main clown acts were on the DVD - and even one or two small bits I had forgotten about. *shrugs*

The DVD does not do this show justice at all.

In what ways do you think the DVD fails the show?
