Wow, those are really short stops. Pretty unusual: 1 month for Sydney? 3 weeks for Brisbane and Melbourne? When TOTEM went round, it was in Sydney for 2.5 months, Melbourne for over 3 months, and Brisbane for 1.5 months!

I'm sure, like always, the runs will be extended if needed.

But even then I'm sure they wouldn't extend it by more than a few weeks. It's quite unusual...

No mention of Adelaide or NZ. The stays always get extended for Australia like most places. I have a feeling that Sydney's stay will still be 2.5 months, there has usually been a 10 day or so transition between Sydney and other cities. I don't think Sydney will see tours that go for 3 months again, i.e. Dralion 2008.

Just found final dates for some cities

Sydney: Aug 24 to Nov 13
Brisbane: Nov 23 to Jan 8
Melbourne: Jan 19 to Mar 26

I've no idea why the tours all start a day before previously thought, but Cirque itself is displaying this information. No tickets are available for these days.

Do cirque change all premier day tickets to "sold out" because I can't get tickets to the Sydney premier... And if it premiers on the 24th than why are tickets only on sale for the 25th?

The Australian Chapiteau was destroyed after its TOTEM run had finished. This was because the tent was old and worn and leaked during rain. So it'll be interesting to see what the new Chapiteau looks like or if it's just the same.

I think the totem big top was destroyed after Singapore. I find it interesting that they say the big top is coming from New Zealand... Is that where they are made?

I wonder if it'll have a new design or be traditional

Shouldn't be Luzia to be heading to Europe right after NA?
Where does the news about Totem in Europe come from?

wpcadet told me, as he knows artists within totem.

Also who said Luzia will tour Europe so soon? Look at Kurios, Kooza and Amaluna; 3 years after premier and none of them had left the US. Luzia probably won't be in Europe until after Totem leaves (2018 or 2019) which would fit the previous premier tour pattern.

I remember I read it somewhere about Luzia to be heading to Europe... But maybe it was just a rumor...
I'm just glad to hear Totem will come, since I've not seen it live yet!

Cirque's ticketing system sucks, when you choose a price level it only gives seats in a select section. What's the point in that? Let the buyer have some more choice over their seats.

Z3D I noticed that too but I'm pretty sure it's a glitch. The seat map they give is a standardised base and they add the links to each section over that (well usually the do, just not for Kooza). The text above it also says something like "select your section below". I emailed cirque already to see if they can fix it. Also the previews aren't a day before like was posted above, that's another glitch. Sydney premier is on the 25th August.

How do you get invited to get premiere night tickets?

Z3D Cirque has just changed the ticketing system to operate corretcly. You can now chose the section you want. Im just bummed that the middle section but to the back (section 200 i think) used to have both premium and level 1 pricing tickets, but its now all premium.

Awesome!! I definitely wasn't making any purchases with that old format. There was once a time when Section 200 was only price level 1... those were the good days.

So Kooza just brought Cyr wheel and hula hoops as the preview for Australia... Great! (*sarcasm*). Actually it wasn't too bad. The hula hoops artist is very talented and she manipulates so many hoops at once on different parts of her body, it's really cool to watch. I just don't know about cyr wheel, it is dull and leaves me craving German wheel for a proper dose of WOW factor! Still the artist performed it well. And until you see cirque with recorded music you don't realise how important live music is for the full impact cirque is renowned for... Overall however I think it will be a good show, but just not as exciting and obviously nowhere near as reinventive as other cirque shows.

I'm afraid that hoola hoops has been in for a while... It replaced Anthony Gatto as a permanent act back in 2010.

I'm looking forward to Kooza coming to Australia. It'll be a great show and more of a wow factor for the audience than what Totem was.

Tom1819, both of us are on the exact same page. Whats the deal with Cyr wheel?? I mean its cool, and a great part of circus arts, but it lacks excitement. German wheel acts are generally more upbeat and fun. Cyr wheel is now over used by CDS, and other cirques now too. I also totally agree with the live music factor. The clip someone recently posted of Kurios (manipulation) on an american TV show, they finally brought live musicians, and it made it so much better. The last clip I remember seeing with live musicians was Alegria!

Don't know about Kurios, but the Alegria band were designed to be characters in and of themselves, with the opening parade and also appearing down stage at times. So it makes sense they'd be seen and do PR, while say Quidams barely step out of the band pit and with Dralion they're entirely hidden from view.

La Nouba, Corteo, Delirium, Ovo, Quidam, Totem, Saltimbanco, Immortal, Amaluna.

I feel like I'm the only one here who doesn't hate cyr wheel :( Yes I agree that it's overused, but I wouldn't say that its doesn't have any "wow" factor. Corteo's use of it was absolutely amazing, it blew my mind when I first saw it. I also think that it was well integrated into Alegria. Yes it doesn't make sense in some places *coughZarkancough* but I wouldn't say that the discipline as a whole is lame.

Instead of hatred, I would say the emotion felt by some (including me) is more frustration and disappointment that Cyr Wheel is being used... again. I personally don't hate it or think it's lame, but I do tire of seeing it injected into shows when there's plenty of other disciplines that could be experienced in a Cirque setting.

Show me a new, exciting Russian Swing act (Saltimbanco --> O --> Varekai); or show me a new, really great Russian Bar act; or even a new, fantastically choreographed Chinese Poles piece. But by god stop using Cyr Wheel! (But, hey, I get it... it's easier to transport.)

I think Cyr Wheel would be interesting if they used it as an Aerial Hoop apparatus in the same act as well. I know it's huge, but they can make something work.

Cirque Shows Seen: Alegria, Amaluna, Kooza, Kurios (3), Luzia (2), Michael Jackson: Immortal, Quidam, Varekai

Kooza will not go to Chile anymore? Tickets and dates have been removed of the tour's page.

I guess there wasn't enough time to go to Chile and send everything to Australia?

Or maybe ticket sales weren't that great to begin with... (if they even opened it up - I don't recall.)
