VOLTA: Find your free

Cirque has posted job opportunities for their new touring show. So far they're looking for Korean cradle artists (individual or pair) and a bmx artist amongst their usual acrobat, dancers, singers etc.

Tom is this going to be a GC or Arena show? Not being negative about this but doesn`t it feel that Cirque is going back to 2008 experience when they decided to create shows one after another and some of them failed/closed? They shouldn`t be going on this "speed" in creating that many shows, Luzia seems fine but you can see Dralion, Varekai, Alegria in there, it`s getting very very repetitive...!!!!

A Big Top show I believe. As of last month there were only two running arena tours and four big top shows. Those numbers have each gone up one with OvO back on the market and Luzia premiering. Still quite a low capacity given how many shows the company's had out on the road before. As long as they're strong quality - the more the merrier! Just better odds one will be near me. Kurious is a gem for the company and I'm optimistic about Luzia. I feel the Big Top show production line has gotten back on track.

La Nouba, Corteo, Delirium, Ovo, Quidam, Totem, Saltimbanco, Immortal, Amaluna.

I completely agree with Colton. I think that recently Cirque has found their rhythm with GC shows. They went through a period of shaky shows imo between 2003 and 2009 and came back strong with Totem, Kurios and Luzia (not so much Amaluna though) in recent times. If they can maintain this standard, the more shows the better, just as long as the quality of the productions aren't compromised. The one thing I feel they are slipping up on is the resident/arena shows. I haven't heard anything spectacular about Joya or Zarkana and Immortal and Toruk were flops for me. Cirque 2017 should be a GC show so Im hoping it will be just as good as the rest.

Yep, Cirque2017 is a big top show and I believe they're doing it right after Luzia because in 2017 Canada will mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

The decision to do a show in 2017 has nothing to do with 150th anniversary of Canada lol. It will not be a Canada show at all lol. Funniest idea of the week.

Apparently the boomerang idea is more possible than I thought. In my mind I only knew the large, traditional Australian ones, which need to be thrown powerfully and can cover a big distance. (And could do serious damage to an audience member) But there is these much smaller ones that cover a smaller area. Would be cool to see an artistic performance come out of this rather than the technicality of hitting a target over and over.

Again, cirque is trying something new and I am super excited and support their decision 100% It is this kind of act which I love going to see. The most memeoable moments of shows are never aerial straps, contortion or cyr wheel. For me it is always the stuff I've never seen nor expected to see like the football dance in Luzia or manipulation in amaluna or totem. This looks amazing and I can't wait for another GC show!

"The Cirque du Soleil Casting team is looking for a male contemporary dancer to play a lead role in a new creation that will premiere in 2017.

Role: The character is one of the lead characters in this production."

This was posted at some point in the last few weeks. This seems pretty cool so dance is gonna be incorporated pretty well in this show

Eternally regretting quitting dance/theatre when I was in high school. To think of the possible opportunities that could have been had if I hadn't been a little beech :P

Cirque 2017 will be in April in the Grand Chapiteau Port de Montreal, and will use a lot of extreme sports like the BMX...

The concept of an extreme sports show was on the drawing board in the past and dropped. Not a fan of the idea but cirque seems to have hit its stride again for making great big top shows (yay!), I'm open to seeing what they can do as long as it's not too heavy handed a theme. I had a glance at the genre on Wikipedia. I think it's safe to rule out the ocean and airplane stuff.

Two friends of mine have been casted into the show. They are part of the house troupe. I'll keep you all updated as I find out new information.

This Japanese double dutch jumping rope crew, who's resume also lists being a part of Joya (I can no longer keep track of what acts are in and out of that show) say's they've joined a world tour with CDS. Maybe the 2017 show? https://www.instagram.com/p/BHTZMUCBI2y/?taken-by=ryota_alttype

Has there been any news on this show do we know who is directing it. Cirque should be making the Cirque 2017 show page live on the website any week now. Luzia (Cirque 2016) was made live a year ago from Monday so i am wondering when they will offfically release information about this show?

The short answer is: when they feel like it. I've not heard any imminent releases about Cirque 2017, but it's still WAY early. Luzia, I think, was a special case due to how it was funded and its content, but we'll have to wait and see. I've not seen any new information about Cirque 2017 than we've already discussed, unfortunately.

This show is definitely looking like an extreme sports show.

So far were at:

-Skipping
-BMX
-Swining Rings

Imagine high diving under the big top? AMAZING!

Lets also note that in 2017 they partnered with the NFL to do some interactive display.
