Just because she's on the show, doesn't mean she will for sure be doing contortion or hand balancing.

She's a very specialized performer at her skill, but true, she could be learning a new discipline.

But I'm just not sure a single contortionist in that massive set will have much of a circus impact. Do you know if it'll be a group act?

She killed in Immortal and was a sole contortionist in that huge Immortal set. So it can be done.

I wouldn't know if she killed it. In fact I didn't even notice her. I was sitting on one of the front sections so I could hardly see the stage. Considering these were the most expensive seats I was extremely unhappy with immortal.

Tom, my ticket cost me $300 and the section was so bad. I was also extremely unhappy with Immortal. I wasn't a fan of MJ and his music. I only saw it because it was a Cirque show. I was very disappointed. This is the reason why I plan not to watch Toruk.

Cirque has released a website for their show at futuroscope called: LA FORGE AUX ETOILES. https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/la-forge-aux-etoiles

A new aquatic fairytale imagined by Cirque du Soleil. Immerse yourself in this big bang of visual, aquatic and pyrotechnic effects. Within this stellar succession of poetic scenes, witness a magical encounter between a young girl and a cosmic giant, with his feet on the ground and his head in the stars. Inspired by the unique architecture of the park and its pavilions that point to the sky, 45 DEGREES created this customized show, signed Cirque du Soleil. By combining creative spirits and technological know-how, Cirque du Soleil explores a new form of expression where artists interact through the magic of images and special effects.

Also I only just noticed this, but Cirque has added child (between 5 to 12 years old) Tapis Rouge tickets for certain shows and it includes the show ticket, an exclusive area with animation & makeup artists and kid-friendly menu & drinks. They are about $10 (of whatever the local currency is) cheaper than regular Tapis Rouge tickets.

A few technicians and I believe a Chinese translator are leaving their current shows this week to join 'c2017' which I can only guess means cirque 2017 - the big top show.

Thanks for sharing, Tom. That was beautiful!
That music sounds familiar. Anyone know where it's from?

While acknowledging it is a somewhat contradictory move, considering they're performing in Russia, as a North Carolinian I applaud this decision. I am LOVING all the backlash NC is facing. I truly hope artists continue to pull out from the state. Hit the bigots where it hurts the most, their pocket books. Since, oddly enough a lot of them have stakes in entertainment venues across the state. Bleed 'em dry. That will teach them that H8 NEVER wins. *flips hair*

The time is right and it makes a statement. Happy to see cirque pull out. Russia is a much different animal in that regard and I don't think the same tactic would be as impactful.

I totally agree Colton. I was just trying not to come off as 'oblivious'; if that makes sense

I saw their post online but what are HB2 legislations?

@Tom, basically speaking HB2 is an anti-LGBT bill, specifically anti-transgender, that prohibits trans* individuals from using the restroom that corresponds to their gender identity. For example, it is now illegal in North Carolina for a MTF transwoman to use the ladies room. While she may have fully undergone hormone treatments and physically now looks like a woman, because she still has a penis (thus still a biological male), she must use the men's room. And the same for a FTM transman. That's the overall goal of the law. Apparently, trans* individuals are sexual predators, and this law was enacted (in a closed senate session) to protect the women and children of NC from a nonexistent threat. But I digress.

However, while that is the overarching "goal", the law has other provisions. It is now legal in the state of NC to discriminate against a person based on their sexual/gender identity and recourse in state courts on the basis of age, race, sex, class etc discrimination is no longer allowed. This shit show started because the city of Charlotte passed an ordinance that protected LGBT people from discrimination and the conservative government in Raleigh threw a hissy fit. Thus they rushed this law through the house and senate chambers and in less than 12 hours the governor signed it. Ever since, NC has faced immense backlash from literally everyone, and it is mounting each day.

I completely understand why Cirque (and many other performers/performance groups) are pulling out of NC over the laws and its great they support gender equality, but TBH if I was in NC and had been looking forward for months to go see the show and it got cancelled because of a law I didn't personally vote for, I would be a little pissed. Maybe they could still perform and just donated all profits to gender equality agencies in the area because it isn't necessarily fair to lots of ordinary people who can no longer go see the show... Still its definitely better than nothing.

Totem is listed as finishing Japan in April 2017 and starting its European tour from November 2017 with Paris. Hope they make a few more stops in the often overlooked Asia Pacific market. It was a big surprise they returned to Singapore. Would like to see cirque make a return to Hong Kong, Manila or Taipei with the big top and Seoul again in that summer - autumn window.

Also I guess that Varekai / Port Aventura big top stay people were obsessing over isn't happening? It almost looks like it could have happened with it being in Spain for the four weeks of July this year.

La Nouba, Corteo, Delirium, Ovo, Quidam, Totem, Saltimbanco, Immortal, Amaluna.
