Would've been hilarious if they were doing crystal meth.

This looks so boring. The bare bones of a hockey rink with literally no stage is just ugly.

Wow, that act in any show is boring, especially here in Crystal. Having a song like Sia's Chandelier, it would've been perfect to have an act like Corteo's chandlier act in this show set to that music.

Why. Why Sia's Chandelier? Who made this?

Also, I thought this was a rehearsal at first because of all the empty seats. Turns out this was an actual showing.

Empty seats aren't unusual for previews. Plus what we see in the video are the sides of the arena where many seats aren't offered and most people don't buy. I've seen a few photos where the audience size is relatively good.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the covers aren't going to last. While the more detailed reviews I've seen don't come down nearly as hard on the music as I anticipated, it still feels very contrary to Cirque's image and brand. If anyone wants to bet against me, let me know, because I still feel like fully original music has gotta be coming at some point!

This is another example of an act where I'm thinking "what does this have to do with ice?" Was an ice stage necessary for most of the show? I have only seen a limited few clips, so I can't really answer, but I'm hoping the ice takes centre stage and not just a background element. It just seems like an added danger for the artists at the moment. Hope that guy is ok.

I do love what they did to change up chinese poles (even though its one of my favourite acts in its original form) by adding russian swing elemetns to it. Very entertaining. Music isnt bad, but I feel it doesn't match the act.

I agree, a lot of these acts have very feeble connections to ice and its such a shame. I have seen so many incredible acrobatic acts on ice that I've randomly found on youtube. I've found aerial ailks on ice, fire juggling on ice, jumping ropes on ice, stilts on ice, hand balancing on canes with skates on them, so much and it just seems like so much wasted potential.

I agree - the acts are very vanilla and nothign really that innovative despite the ice.

On top of that, that's also totally not an original song. I took a dance class for a while where that was one of the songs we stretched to lol.

It seems to be getting decent reviews from the general public; now if only they could actually come down into FL so I can see it ;)

No big review, but I saw Crystal in Worcester, Massachusetts today, and I really enjoyed it.  Then again, I go see the shows for the entertainment value, and not to criticize everything, especially before even knowing anything about the show.

Fun fact: After some social media stalking, one of the performers who was caught with cocaine in San Antionio is now part of SeaWorld's fantastic ice skating show here in Orlando.

Mungo: Dang, Cirque doesn't play around. Hopefully he learned his lesson. Such a shame. He lost a gig working for one of the biggest companies in the world.

I kind of feel sorry for him, in a way, because is a fantastic ice skater; the highlight of the show for me. Hopefully losing a gig with the Cirque gave him a wake-up call

My review of Crystal :

Good points
The Acts :

The skating is put to support the numbers and is put in front especially during the interludes. The numbers are classic in themselves but bring a whole new way, supported by skating. My favorite: chair balancing, jumps on the theme of hockey and the final number that adds banquine and fixed trapeze. There is of course the eternal aerial duo love strap that seems now a must in every production of the circus but this time, the artist incorporates a surprising movement that I had never seen before that shows all physical strength of the artist.

The original music :
I absolutely want an album of the original music of Crystal. It has a touching style and a instrumental sounds that I really love. Really, even the pre-show music was great. There's no singer except on the pop music so it was mainly instrumental with sometimes prerecorded choir but it was still really beautiful.

Scenography and projections:
The scene and projections are such a major element in the show that I can not fail to mention it. They are amazing, the quality of Toruk if it is not more during a certain scene.

The story :
No, it is not original, I must admit. BUT, for once I never questioned myself, it was clear! A beginning, a middle, an end. Clean, uncomplicated, or whatever. The acts are not allegorical, we easly understand what they represent I  think. Volta approached a clear scenario like that but in Crystal, they add a narration: the girl tells us that she lives and that makes all the difference. I like when we can construct our own scenario and interpretation of the story like in Quidam but when I see show like Amaluna who cleam to have a definite story but you dON,t understand the half of it, it's good to see that Cirque du Soleil can make claer one like they did in Crystal.

Negative points
The lack of characters :
Apart from Crystal and her Reflection, there are no other  '' cirquish ''  characters  really worthy of interest. The clown is not really one, he is called "comic character". Too bad because some costumes are interesting. Not having such charcater serve the story in this case because it's really a personal interior journay for Crystal but the fan in me wished to discoverer more nammed charcater.

Pop music :

A point that all already see coming I guess. Absolutely unnecessary, it totally breaks the atmosphere to my opinion. Of course, it should not really upset people who are not as much a fan of circus music as I am, but for me it was really a horror. If only they just used the instrumental version it could be ok ... No singer, these were pre-recorded voices. Fortunately, there is little during the show not so much in the show.

Boutique :

That's not really a complain about the show but it was so ridiculous, I have to mention it.

Many of the very few promotional items was sold out. No item realeted to other show was present. The ''souvenir program'' we get here in Quebec when a new show open is always more like a creation book that a real program. It's boring in my point of view but I guess it's because they didn't have time to create a real one really quick beforethe premiere. But if you think that the first program of Luzia or Kurios was bad ( for the one who know what I talking about) be prepare to see the Crystal one. It's the absolute worst that I never saw. It's a activity book with only 1 images of the show... and it's juste Crystal face.... So disappointing...
