When I saw it in Houston 2 weeks ago they didn't have it on sale, but one of the sales reps i guess said that it should be out near the end of the shows tour in Houston or being in Winniepeg. The show was great by the way! I liked Sophie as the new singer!

Is the new singer Sophie on social media? I'd like to check out her stuff. Also, I wonder why they have a new little person now.

The old Mini Lily left the cast. Maybe joining Corteo?

Her instagram is Sophiacanta. She was really sweet when i got to meet her backstage plus her voice is amazing. I remember it when seeing Joya.

Semi, is this only available at the Kurios show, or can I also buy it when I see Luzia next week?

Maybe it'll also appear briefly at the La Nouba boutqiue. Amaluna was there for a short time and I never bought it, for which I hate myself lol.

Noa, are you in Houston? I've seen someone post a pic of the DVD at the show so they are indeed selling it. Let's just hope they're not sold out when you go!

Noa, if the Kurios DVD isn't available when I see Luzia on Tuesday, would you be able to buy me a copy and I can venmo you the funds? We can even do a trade -- I'll buy Luzia for you (if interested) and you can buy me Kurios!

I already saw the show. The DVD was pretty well put together. There wasnt much of those replays like in the Saltimbanco DVD, which is good, but they edited it very well for the act transitions. It was like I was there again. One of the only things I wish they did was the intermission Wat you no wen, when the band comes out. Im not really sure what else to look for, so if you guys want any info on it I can look back and tell you.

How were the camera angles and also were there any slow motion effects? That's all I'll ask

Like Noa, I found the DVD to be very well put together and edited. I was also happy to find that virtually everything you see in the show live is there in some form. And that there weren't too many camera tricks, like we've seen in previous show recordings. This recording is way better than Luzia's in my opinion.

Some likes:

1) Here I didn't feel the cuts in the action were too obtrusive. It felt good and solid and well edited together. I don't recall any slow-motion effects. The folks doing this seem to love Kurios, and it shows.

2) The video quality also looked better than Toruk's and Luzia, so that's a plus. I didn't notice aliasing effects in this one, unlike for Toruk, which was really, really bad.

3) The Go-Pro camera angles were a nifty touch, but I'm glad they were used sparingly.

4) I really liked the split screen effect to show Nico's puppetry act. That way we get to see both up close.

5) The Kurios About Web-Series is a bonus feature.

That being said I do have some nitpicks, however:

1) I found the constantly moving camera very distracting in the beginning, to the point where it was ruining the opening number. Naturally there's a lot going on in this act, but, it's really not necessary to constantly track around the action. Hold the camera still and let the action happen around it. It's like they wanted to show off they had the camera on dollies and cranes.

2) Some times the music playing did not match up with the action on screen. I only found this distracting one time, and this was in the opening number. [SPOILER] The crescendo that ocurrs as the juggler ascends into the air during the live show did NOT ocurr during the filmed version. Only after he came down did that point in the song ocurr. I'm sorry, but that kind of ruined the excitement of it all.

3) Speaking of the opening. [SPOILER] The artist train run that chugs along from one side of the stage to the other in the prologue is not in the recording. Although I can see why they didn't include it, it's really one of the best parts of the opening. It's so quirky, and so Kurios. It also helps give context to the arriving train in the Chaos Synchro opening number, but without it you don't have that context. I did say it was a nitpick ;)

4) That damn light. Okay, how many times must you show that big-ass light in the rafters of the bigtop? I think we all get it by now that it's a steampunk-themed show. The light is cool... the first couple of times... but c'mon now. Move the camera away from that light and follow the action, mmmkay?

5) WHY IS THIS NOT ON BLU-RAY OR AVAILABLE DIGITALLY!!!

Other than that, this is probably one of the most solid recordings of a show I've seen recently.

Richasi, great review! Im bummed the train/parade didn't make it. Im so slow I didn't realize that train is the one that arrives on stage where the artists emerge -- and I've seen the show twice!

i have a few questions about the DVD for either you or Noa::

1) Are there all four girls in the contortion act?

2) Are there both guys in aerial straps?

3) Is Rola Bola in it, or is it the effing hand balancing on canes?

Thanks!

Rowelle - here's some answers:

1) Yes, four girls. Everyone is there.

2) Yes, both boys. (and the Miami crowd loved them)

3) NO! NO ROLA BOLA! SUCH A TRAVESTY!!!

(no, just kidding, he's there)

Yo-yo guy too =)

No Handbalancing. though I would have liked to have that as a bonus feature, alas...

And I did want to add one more like. During the Balancing on Chairs, they are key not to show what's going on above him until the right moment. Good editing there too. When the crowd figures it out is when they show it in the footage.

I'm sure more thoughts will come as I watch it more and think about it more. (And, of course, discuss it more!)

How can I get my hands on this DVD? I am going to see Volta, but highly doubt they will be selling it. I find the merch here in Montreal weak, considering the HQ is here!!

Seriously though, please, I would love the DVD for Kurios, Luzia and maybe Toruk too!! Help a brotha out!
