A whole bunch of new tickets were recently released: Luzia (LA/Costa Mesa), Kurios (Tokyo), and most interestingly (Rosario/Buenos Aires/Cordoba). I say most interestingly because the initial tour of Rosario lasts 4 days and even stranger only 3 for Cordoba. Considering that Kooza wasn't an absolute box office hit in SA, I can't see them extending the tour beyond 2 weeks in total for Rosario which they've never visited before. Why would they even bother taking the show there?

South America's powerhouse is Brazil where cirque is strongly established. The promotion agency that sponsors the tours was defunct at the time so Kooza did not tour there. I feel like Sep7imo Dia would have been a more strategic choice in building the cirque brand in Paraguay and Uruguay before Amaluna but oh well. Ovo in general not playing the continent seems like an immense waste of talent for the company.

Well, all have proscenium arches if that's what you mean by a "cross" of them. The big top's roof is cone shaped so it's only natural it was slimmer at the sides than something going into arenas. It looks cool and like it will fill the space of arena's really well. I'm excited to see this show brought back!

I was thinking more of the colour scheme and design of the curtains. But that too ;)

I think all the arena shows use a giant black curtain to block out the back half of the arena and some times it can really shrink the stage. I think they went for a bolder image to help size it up.

Re the earlier NYC convo - I saw the NFL thing at Times Square today.

Bottom line, if you don't care much about football, don't bother. It's an interactive exhibit, nothing more, and there's not all that much to it. Nice (and expensive-looking) 4D theatre where they play an intro video (complete with some fake snow), and then you go into a souped-up museum with some interactive exhibits. It all went mostly over my head - I know nothing about football, and went purely out of Cirque-related curiosity. But in truth, there's nothing "Cirque" about this. And no Cirque branding anywhere at all. They truly are a white-label operator and ticket-seller here, nothing more.

I guess they haven't had the official big opening yet - I've seen no real press and I think it's currently in a discounted 'preview' period. They're clearly just working things out and staff are brand new, but I hope attendance picks up. I was there on a Sat afternoon (on a long weekend!) and there were more far staff in the venue than guests...

Thanks for the update! I had forgotten that NFL thing was even happening. Glad to hear it's being treated as very distinct and separate from the traditional CdS brand.

This was posted to Wiki (which I have since removed to a breach in publishing codes) for Amaluna. Completely uncited and likely untrue. (They have barely decided on Kurios' Japan dates, it seems unlikely they would have Amaluna's dates too). Don't suppose anyone can legitimise these claims?

Amaluna's are entierly plausible.. though I'm dying to know Kooza's! I want to see a lot more done with the big top in Asia outside of Japan. Super excitied to see Hong Kong listed, even if its just a rumor. It's an incredible city and makes me think of those magic, early days when shows like Alegria (1996!) and the company had everything before them and would set up there. With Amaluna's mini test markets in South America theres no reason Kooza couldn't do more across Asia in long dormant Big Top markets like Manilla and Taipei for shorter stays, Seoul and new ones like Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.

Hong Kong is not a rumor... it's on Cirque's ticket page for Kooza. Did I read what you wrote incorrectly?

Any idea's on Toruk's tour gap between 01/2018 and 10/2018. I know that shows like Ovo and Dralion had done similar extended hiatus when a tour schedule couldn't be put together. But I wonder what happens to the acrobatic teams that need routine group trainings for their acts.

Toruk will be in Danzhou Residential Area, Sanya, China for 1.5 months. Thoughts?

My initial reaction was "that long?!?", but I realize that its not like it hasn't happened before. Immortal was in Vegas for almost a month in 2011.

But vegas is primarily a tourist city with a high visitor turnover rate. Sanya isn't. Same reason why Vegas, NY, Orlando, Dubai etc. play host to resident shows whereas Sydney or Singapore wouldn't. You need frequent visitor turnover so that a new batch of visitors are constantly flowing through the doors.

You're right, that's very strange. On the whole island there's only 9 million people, furthermore only about 700 thousand in Sanya.

Sanya is on Hainan Island, which is like the Hawaii of China.

I've been to Hainan. It's nothing fancy. Yes there's resorts, but not nearly as many as Hawaii. Also the clientelle is very different.

At this point what are the odds Volta is extended for another week in Tampa? I’m already seeing it on February 24th and I want to see it again before it leaves but I have a feeling March 4th is the final day for the show.

So, uh, they're literally building a building so that Sanya can host Toruk...

Jesus. Fingers crossed that it stays there forever. Can't imagine they'll recoup the investment any other way.

Will Kooza be the next to convert to arena? The two month tour gap after beijing troubles me some.

Well Kooza will be ten this year so, logically, it should be next in line. But with OVO going earlier who knows if they have a time table anymore

Colton: After Beijing, Kooza is scheduled for Shenzhen and then Hong Kong (starting April 19th), so no need to fret.

But, it is due for the conversion. It'll celebrate 11 years in April, so... it's just a matter of time.
