It's not tournik. It's parkour lol

I love to see all the tech and progress done on the stage.  Those lifts are really cool.

Wow that Alegria shout out! Though Quidam did it first of course. :--p

besides the obvious rope duo, was that hoop manipulation act cut and replaced with batons? I know it was added last minute. And is that flying act still in or cut with the gliding costume? Haven't seen any sign of it before now.

La Nouba, Corteo, Delirium, Ovo, Quidam, Totem, Saltimbanco, Immortal, Amaluna.

Someone catch me up on this rope act situation: was it indeed cut? Do we have specifics on why, or have we just assumed it's due to a conflict with Rigolo?

I believe the rope duo was indeed cut from the show. It was only presented during previews but mysteriously they cut it at the world premiere. I'm guessing they did that to avoid bad reviews and critiques from the media, which was a smart move.

Good. From what I saw, the rope duo act looked boring AF. They were literally just going up and down the whole damn time.

Ah he was part of that unfunny clown duo in Banana Shpeel.

The guy's a dick too. Someone posted a media review to HCF which had clips of the acts and I commented an evaluation of what was shown which included an overly long deodorants act which was not remotely funny, and I pointed this out. And the "clown" actor replied with some passive aggressive remark. Wake up honey, your act sucks and with a stuck up attitude like yours it's no wonder you haven't improved! Didn't know he was in BS but I'm not surprised.

Tracker, that's one very sexy backup clown! I would never have thought of him as being a clown, so that would be interesting to see.

Happy that he had his first show as a clown. How did he do? Is it normal to have the show's acrobat artists understudy for the clowns?

while  extremely common, it's not out of the ordinary. For example one of Quidam's banquine artists, Andrii Lytvak was an understudy for Toto. since leaving he has become one of Les Cons.

Tracker, besides Kurios and Luzia, what are the other two? Maybe they'll wait a long while before releasing the Volta DVD. I think Luzia was filmed in Canada and that was last year.

Toruk and now Volta. Especially compared to the past few years, theres a lot more dvds suddenly. They used to film every touring show, but between 2007 and 2014 only the amaluna dvd was made.

I believe the filmings are part of the mandate to make as much money as you can. CDs/DVDs sell decently - especially at the show itself - so it makes logical sense to have them. For whatever reason Cirque didn't want to spend the money to actually film, but, hopefully that's passed and we'll start getting these more regularly.  I'm still hoping for a TOTEM DVD.

As for DVD releases : Luzia was filmed in May/June 2016 and released November 17th.  Toruk was filmed at it's December gala premiere and the DVD was released in July 2016. Kurios was filmed December 2016 in Miami and was just released at the beginning of May. So... about 5-6 months for editing and such. Not too bad. Nothing like Amaluna being released a year after it was filmed...

Here in Montreal, they make many pub about the fact that the music was from M8 and all stuff like this so I was really surprise when I saw there's was no Volta album. But I was also happy because that means that we didn't get a ''pre-show'' album like the Luzia one. So I was willing to wait for the Volta once, since they say that the music is really important and good. But I'm super happy that they choose to product the album sonner :)

My disappointment is that none of those new dvds are available here in Montreal!

Oof. I really wish they were giving Volta more time to find its feet. The reviews have been so mixed, especially regarding the story, and if they ever choose to rework it then filming now is pointless. An early album, fine, but please hold off on the DVD. Luzia had similar timing but Luzia is beautiful and Volta seems... less so.

Exactly - imagine if Corteo or Varekai were filmed in Montreal? What a mess those would be. Even after Corteo was filmed in Toronto it went through dozens of changes. Even looking at Kooza it would've been nice if it were filmed later (2 singers, please?). Luzia was fine but that's only because it was an unusual case in that the show was at a very good level from the start.

When decisions are driven financially rather than artistically, this is what you get...

I don't mind that we're getting early filming on some of these shows, as I feel this is when the energy is 110%.  But I agree, had Varekai been filmed in Montreal it would have been a bit more muddled. Corteo as well - although I'm still happy to have the old bouncing beds music ;)

What was so wrong with Varekai in Montreal? I'm not familiar with it in its original, first city state.
