Ah, okay. Maybe the model they showed in the video I saw was meant that be the tent.

rowelle, i know what you mean and it was definitiv about the stage.

In the video they talked about, that during the show Waz will loose his "free" or will to go further or something similar to that.

He would be in the center of the stage and the stage would be completly dark. And with a new technology they would make the cheers from the audience visible.

They wanted, that the audience will shout and some king of light projection would be seen coming from the corner of the noise towards the center of the stage.

I remember this video clearly, because i talked with a friend about this scene. We agreed, that this part could be problematic, because some cultural areas/countries are pretty reserved about screaming or cheering during a show.

Steamer, thanks for clarifying the video. I just vaguely remember it. It did look like a cool apparatus, though.

Thanks for letting us know Propel_Pierrot. I just hope the filming of the show is delayed until the show gets better. I have read that the show isn't well put togeher compared to Kurios and Luzia when they premiered, specially the unicycle act, which seems to be out of place in the show.

I remember hearing unicycle is a backup act so no need to worry too much. It should evolve (fingers crossed) over time.

Unicycle is not a backup, it replaced the rope duo since the premiere and became permanent.

Just got back from the show. Much better than anticipated but still needs work tightening little things up.

There is too much happening at once throughout various moments. One example that really bothered me is during the Acrobatic Lamp act, the set up for Parcour is being done which was more than distracting really, and took away from the beauty of his act.

BEST SKIPPING ACT I HAVE SEEN!!

Nice to see another show with at least 2 acts dedicated to just dance, and I am not even into dance acts, but they were tasteful and good.

The music was surprisingly amazing, considering I am not a huge fan of EDM, and I am right around the age of the target audience. It was not over the top electro garbage like Delirium or Tapis rouge a few years ago, but subtle and tastfeul, and well, just fits with this show. Darius was fantastic, as was the other singer, let alone the other musicians. Nailed it.

The clown/animation acts were the best or rather funniest I have seen in years. I mean they were a little awkward at first, but the character plays with the awkwardness and embraces it.

STILL NO SLACKWIRE?!?! so upset.

The acrobats and characters look like they have so much fun, and really interact with the audience. Especially pre-show!

The merch here in Montreal is weak. No DVD or CDs from other shows, the merch itself for Volta is so-so at best. Of course the show souvenirs are ridiculously priced as usual, not to mention 11$ popcorn?!? 7$ Pretzels? Yeesh.

My background is professional theatre and circus arts (techie) and I was blown away by the technical aspects of this show, from the sound quality/mix, to the lighting, staging/automation etc. IT was pretty impressive!

I won't critique each individual act, so if you have any questions let me know!

one more thing: If I did not know the storyline beforehand, I would have been confused. My wife asked me what the story was at intermission as she was not 100% sure. That point is rushed and not well illustrated, at first.

There ya go everyone!

Actually the song that plays after QPQ (which I don't know the name of) it's used as an interlude and Meeting Ela includes Presicion Walk (the greys) and Batons & Skates. Rise & Shine is only parkour whilst Urban Jungle is for shape diving. The song for Tightwire is called STARLIGHT unfortunately there has been no recording of the act so I couldn't find the music for it. The playlist goes like this:

QUID PRO QUO 1000TH - Skipping Ropes

WAZ AFTER QPQ (Not the real name) - Interlude

MEETING ELA - First half: Presicion Walk  Second Half: Batons & Skates

GUARDIAN ANGEL IN THE  CITY - Acro Lamp

RISE AND SHINE - Parkour

DAYDREAMING (first song confirmed on the CD) - Ballet & Flatland Duo

INTERVENTION - Swiss Rings & Bungees

LADDERS INTRO (Not the real name) - Second Half Opening

LEAVING THE CITY - Acro Ladders

STARLIGHT (NOT IN PLAYLIST) - Tightwire

URBAN JUNGLE - Shape Diving

GLOBETROTTERS - Charivari

MIRAGE - Hair Suspension

HALL OF EQUALS - Premiere: Rope Duo. Now: Unicycle Duo

BREAKTHROUGH - Contemporary Dance

BMX INTRO (Not the real name) - BMX Set up

MOMENTUM - BMX

INTERVENTION (REPRISE) - Finale

Unfortunately Cirque du Soleil took down "Leaving the City" due to copyright issues although I can't understand why would they do that considering that there's no official recording out (yet) & why only that video and not the others? :( I will try to re- upload it.

Thanks for the list Allxvita!

It's good to know that Daydreaming is going to be on the CD. However, I doubt the CD will have all the songs of the show.

Do you know if any of the songs that doesn't have the "not the real name" quote, have now their official name?

Yes, I also doubt all of the songs will make the final cut on the album, that's why I uploaded them to youtube, so fans can listen to the songs in their true form.

don't know about the unknown songs maybe we can ask to the singers or musicians.

By the way, the female singer character is called Consicence, according to Camilla.

Nooo! There's still so much kinks they need to work out!

Is this the first time in Cirque history that the album and DVD are being recorded shorlty after premiere?

Luzia DVD was also recorded in Montreal (earlier I think) and Toruk too.

Volta is going through a lot of changes right now and I think they are filming the DVD in a hurry. They should wait more for the show to evolve.

It's all abouut profit these days smh. They don't care about what they film, so long as there is a dvd out there to make money.

Even though I haven't seen the show live, I think it's too soon to record it. Besides, there has been mixed opinions about it.

By only seen a few video clips, I think the show is great and features very awesome acts. However, I do agree that the music for the unicycle act should feature a much impressive act. Also, I read that the show has a lot of things to improve, that it isn't fully wrapped as Luzia and Kurios were since their premieres. So, the show will definitely change a lot after Montréal, making the DVD to shows us Volta in its "in progress" version, instead of in its best moment. However, as Tracker said, as long as the DVD makes profits, it doesn't matter that much if the show is in shape or not.

I won't deny I will definitely be looking forward to get my hands on the DVD, but it would've been better if the show was filmed at its best moment.

Maybe my opinion isn't as valid as the one of someone who actually saw the show, but that' what I think.

I would'nt keep my fingers crossed, but I would like OVO and Totem filmed too.

Tourk was delivered as a premature child lmao the show was not ready by the premiere date and it went through a lot of changes even months after. I feel the same with Volta. Although I must say I am a little surprised that they had two years for developing and creating the show and somehow it still wasn't enough time to get a solid show. I mean, Finzi Pasca had to leave Luzia's creation almost at the very beggining and yet the show was beautifully done by the associate director on time

Anyways, Cirque has made it clear that nowadays they care more about selling tickets and get paid for wacky shows (Meraviglia I'm looking at you) rather than the quality. Oh those glorious days of the Dragone Era and Guy...

Mr. Andrew, not only the music during the unicycle act, but everything happening on stage as well. The whole production of the act is pretty big scale, so unicycles is just so awkwardly out of place with it, lol.

I agree Rowelle! after seeing the show last week, I can say there's too much going on around the stage and not enough in the centre, and the track is too, how can I put it, "grandiose" for the actual act itself. Felt that way for a few acts though. This show will definitely go through more changes, mostly to tighten it up like the other shows. Also, if they are filming it, does anyone know if tightwire/slackline is back in? When I saw thwe show last week there was no wire act, and the ladders act featured only 1 of 2 ladders (and was sort of boring).

Just for giggles, I'm picturing Yo-Yo in place of the unicycle act and I'm just laughing my ass off. I would die!

Too bad tightrope was cut off the show.

I hope Volta's DVD is like Kurios'. I read that Luzia's cut out many scenes, even though the acts themselves were filmed in their entirity. However, Kurios' didn't left out that much of the show, so, I would like Volta's to be similar.

Cut the dammit ladder act (the worst Cirque du Soleil act I ever see) and bring tightrope ! :O The only good part with the ladder is that the Grey performs it and I like their costume.

Propel_Pierrot, I agree with you the ladders act sometimes looks dull and clumsy.
