Zumanity Restaging

Recently on hoops artist Elena Lev's instagram account she commented that within about two weeks much of Zumanity's original cast would be leaving and that the show was going to be 'refreshed'. Sounds like a restaging. Anyone else hear anything on this?

Yeah, last month, the Robin Leach at the Las Vegas News-Sun had something to say about the upcoming changes:

Well with Alegria, immortal and soon dralion retiring they have a surplus of veteran artists in the database. Interested to see what they'll come up with.

La Nouba, Corteo, Delirium, Ovo, Quidam, Totem, Saltimbanco, Immortal, Amaluna.

Hi! I saw a television coverage last night on French TV, Cirque is actually restaging Zumanity with the french choregrapher Yanis Marshall. We saw some footage with the dancers, he said that it will take 6 months (for 10 years run).

Yanis Marshall, as in the guy on YouTube who posts his high heeld infused choreographic interpretations of popular pop songs?

I always kinda thought it would be cool if Zumanity were less of an erotic cabaret and maybe more of a show with artistic nudity and that sort of thing. Sort of like what they already have with the water bowl and original body 2 body act except base the whole show around that. I just personally think that would be cooler and edgier in its own right.

http://youtu.be/hzYIss-sayE the new choreography looks great, not sure if it matches the music at all, the make up feels overly harsh and very drag-ish. I know that's the nature of the show, cirque just always it just feels so out of place staged outdoors, for PR, especially Zu. Loved the aerial act.

La Nouba, Corteo, Delirium, Ovo, Quidam, Totem, Saltimbanco, Immortal, Amaluna.

Aerial Chains looks sick! The new stuff looks like it could be very good :)

I think aerial chains has already been in the show for a while if I'm not mistaken. Can't say the new dancing and choreography look like anything that new. Guess we'll have to see what the rest of the show is like.

Only about 30% of the show is "new" so it will be interesting to see what they've done. That's a far cry from what Robin Leach said was going to happen, though. So I wonder if he misunderstood or Cirque reversed themselves after his column came out. Either way, it's good the show is getting some TLC.

It's tightened up a lot. The aerial chains act is new. There are new costumes (the one for the cello player looks especially amazing). The lighting and video have both been redone and look great. The new cast members are making the show their own.

I saw it two weeks ago and I'm afraid I wasn’t impressed by the changes. The last time I saw it was in 2012 so I don't know if those are recent or have been going on for a while. If you want to know something specifically, let me know.

Here are some very random thoughts, please excuse my basic English.

-I noticed major costume changes. I found them less complex and far less impressive. Corinne Zarzour’s costume is a red/black spandex without a wig, the clowns now have an awful 80’s look , Alan is now wearing jeans. The current striper now wears a James Bond suit; it’s so common and boring. Nobody screamed when Edie asked us to, sorry.

- I’m guessing Dance on TV was cut and it’s a shame they don’t use that song anymore. There is a new dance act instead, nothing really special. I don't know if dislocation and cyr wheel were cut or just out for that performance.

-Aerial Chains and Aerial tissue were especially amazing. For aerial chains they use “Into Me” from the CD, was it always like this? I can’t remember. Alan’s act is also very cool. His routine is now very up tempo.

-I know artists can't stay forever but I really missed seeing Julia, Wassa, Marcela and Antonio, the new guy “Casanova” doesn't come out during the pre-show or does anything at all really …until the orgy. Edie was great as always.

There are different musical arrangements (Wind comes to mind). If you want the audio send me a pm.

It's funny CDS is tracking down the people who have recently seen Zumanity. They sent me a survey and ask if I'd like to participate in a focus group.

So Mio Belle Amore is the final song or the song for the handbalancing act? Someone can help me with this question?

@Propel: Greek goddess is Julia

New arrangement is as follows:

Last Update: Jan 10, 2016

0/Pre-show. Botero sisters (strawberries)/cast walks around and gets in the display/stripper rooms/Dick and Izzy
1. Rules of the House (new version - same lyrics but sung totally differently)
2. Welcome (Edie warms the audience up and gets the show started)
3. Wind and African dance
4. Waterbowl
5. Chains (Into Me) - replaced Aerial Hoops (Libera me)
6. Magnum (Rose Boy)
7. Scotch Baggies
8. Roue Cyr (new song) - rotation
9. Hand to Hand (Sex is Beautiful)
10. Dislocation
11. Perfect Jam - replaced Dance on TV
12. Aerial Dream (Libera me with a country western twist)
13. Expressions
14. Handbalancing (Mio Bello, Bello Amore)
15. Lite (I think Dick and Izzy get caught fooling around)
16. Two Men (now apparently 2 men with red high heels on)
17. Aerial Straps
18. Express Dating
19. Tissu (new song - the act is no longer romantic but instead very rock and roll)
20. Midnight Bath
21. Gentle Orgy (Lazy Susan of Sex)
22. Extravaganza

P.S. Does anyone have an mp3 of the Fire act from 2003? I found like 10 seconds of the song on Youtube but I'm interested in hearing the whole thing.

Is Antonio back on the show?!!

Like I said in my post above, I didn't like the changes ='(

The Dance on Tv song was amazing why would you get rid of it? I don't get it.

@nikita Nope. Forgot to edit that out. Sorry. I loved both Libera me and Dance on TV, which I thought were Corinne's best songs. Personally, the show is pretty short compared to others, so I wouldn't see a reason to cut acts rather than add more on.

aaawww

I agree, Corinne was absolutely brilliant in those songs!! She's insane.

Zumanity used to be one of my favorite shows, always fun and amazing. The music really stands out. It’s a shame we don't have a CD with the actual music of the show! I had the audios of the performances I saw in 2011 and 2012, but my external hard drive broke and unless I pay 2,800 USD to fix it, 500GB of my life are lost forever :'(

You'd think Cirque would want to re-record the CD since it's nothing like the show today... but maybe it doesn't sell well to begin with.

Zumanity is the only Cirque album I don't have. Oops.

The album is atrocious. The actual show is gold.

That's horrible about losing your music. The same thing happened to me a few years ago but I salvaged some of it. Now I save on 2 computers and maybe a drive soon. Haha.
